eFootball receive a license from Bayer Leverkusen
Konami has announced the return of Bayer 04 Leverkusen to its football simulator under official license, after being absent from it since 2021.
The German champion club and 2024 Europa League finalist is now available as of Thursday, February 20, after installing the eFootball 4.3.0 update.
As a reminder, the Bundesliga is not featured on eFootball due to a long-term exclusive contract between the German league and EA Sports. However, Bundesliga rules allow Konami to enter into partnership agreements or simple licensing agreements with the three clubs in the league.
In addition, Germany is not a member of FIFPro, the international professional football federation. This prevents Konami from creating a generic German league with real Bundesliga players, even with fake clubs.
