Mexican club Guadalajara becomes an eFootball partner

In a press release issued on Tuesday, January 17, Mexican football club Guadalajara, better known by the nickname “Chivas“, announces that it has partnered with Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. in Los Angeles the day before.

The club name, logo and kit will now appear exclusively in eFootball. 3D scanning of all football players of the club is announced. Akron Stadium will also be modeled and added in a future update, the club announced on Twitter at the end of the day.

In return, Chivas will associate the eFootball brand with their communications and in-stadium entertainment. Participation in future Konami eSports projects is also mentioned.

We are excited to partner with Konami, an iconic video game developer with a long history in the global football market,” said Amory Vergara, president of the Mexican club. “Through this partnership, we are connecting all generations of fans through many possible interactions to fuel the unwavering passion of our fans while increasing our visibility around the world through the eFootball platform.”

Chivas represents a set of strong values and a unique vision for the development of sports in Mexico,” said Yuta Kose, president of Konami Digital Entertainment Inc., enthusiastically. “Our goal is to give Mexican football a meaning that it has never had before for its fans at the national level and for the global football community as a whole. Guadalajara is the perfect partnership for all football fans.”

As a reminder, the Mexican first division championship, Liga MX, is exclusive to eFootball from the 2022 season. Chivas is the second club in this league to receive an individual partnership with Konami, after Club América de Mexico.
